Research - David Finch Dynamic Figure Drawing Body -02

The purpose of this test is to brake down the human body into basic shapes that are easy to turn in 3D space.

In the above image [a],[b] and [c] represent the torso shape which is broken down to its simplest form as a body-warmer with holes for the neck and arms. Continuing by drawing the pelvic shape, which including the torso shape is where most of the limbs sprout from, as in image [d] and [e], the pelvic shape shouldn't be flat it should be tilted "crotch in butt out". By starting with these shapes it allows the artist to balance the body before committing to a final pose. Image [f] shows a this from a side view and shows some experimentation on the movement of the human body.
